Belarc awarded most comprehensive suite of certifications by the Center for Internet Security

CIS benchmarks integral part of FISMA, HIPAA, FFIEC and Sarbanes-Oxley

Maynard, MA, USA -- 13 April 2005 -- Belarc, Inc. announced today that its BelSecure 2005 system has been awarded certification by the Center for Internet Security (CIS) for thirteen of its Windows security benchmarks. BelSecure 2005 is the first product in the industry to complete the rigorous certification process for the CIS' highest security levels offered for Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.

"We are very pleased to have our BelSecure 2005 system awarded the most comprehensive suite of CIS certifications to date, said Gary Newman, President, Belarc. "The CIS benchmarks are an integral part of the security process for FISMA, HIPAA, FFIEC and Sarbanes-Oxley. They can be automatically used to deploy and continuously monitor the security configurations on our customers' IT assets, based on each assets' individual level of security risk."

"With the rapid proliferation of system and network vulnerabilities, security professionals are hard-pressed to continually ensure the stability of their IT infrastructures, said Clint Kreitner, CIS President and CEO. "By earning these CIS certifications, Belarc customers are assured that BelSecure 2005 compares the configuration of their Windows XP, Server 2003, 2000 Professional, 2000 Server, and 2000 operating systems with the security benchmarks that have been defined by user consensus. In managing risk associated with information assets, it is critical that all users establish configuration policies that are best for their organizations - the right balance of system security, function, and interoperability. BelSecure 2005 enables users to define their security policies for these Windows operating systems with the CIS Benchmarks as a guide. I applaud Belarc for rising to the challenge of earning CIS' rigorous certification for such a wide variety of Windows operating systems."
